Hey, it's Christine. For those of you that don't know me I am married to the love of my life, Kent and we have three beautiful daughters, two that still live at home. Sierra is 16 and JoAnne is 5. Last year we started the paperwork to build our new home. We are finally ready to move some dirt! It's been a long rocky road up to this point and we are so ready to start the construction. I love working with everyone at Newrock! They have been great. Eric had to deal with me from day one! He had great suggestions and was a huge help while I changed the floor plan all around. Lisa did an awesome job with the floor plan and making all the little changes I asked for. Clint bombarded me with a ton of options and had to deal with my indecisiveness. He constantly keeps me updated on what is going on! I am one of those people that needs to know what is happening even if nothing is happening! I decided to keep this blog so my husband can keep up with what is going on during the construction while he is currently working in Afghanistan and for my friends and family. Hope you guys like it!

Okay, it was so rude of me not to list the one person who put us in touch with Newrock and who volunteered to hold my hand through this whole process - my husbands good friend and realtor - Randy Peck! Randy has been "holding my hand" from day one, always answers my calls and if for some reason he doesn't know the answer to one of my million questions, he finds out for me. Thanks again Randy for always being there (oh, I'm still waiting for our dinner date.)

Promised Pictures - August 31

Okay, I promised to post a few pictures today.  The recessed lighting is in, there are boxes mounted everywhere and wires flowing from one end of the house to the other.  :)  HVAC was installed (can't wait to use it) and a few exterior doors have been installed.  Tomorrow the windows should arrive and be installed and more electrical work!  Wow, this house is really looking awesome!

There's Been A Lot Going On - August 30

Okay, the last couple of days have been crazy.  Trying to get the kids ready to head back to school.  Still so much to do with the house.  The HVAC has been finished, the house has been wrapped in Tyvek, I had a walk through with the electricians this morning.  Wow, the electricians are fast, they already had the recessed lighting ready and boxes up everywhere, I guess they start stringing the wire tomorrow.  I had a long meeting with Clint this morning - he is really awesome to work with and has helped me so much! Oh, we have some exterior doors!  Windows were back ordered and should be arriving and installed on Thursday! Still waiting to get the transformer in and power ran to the house.  Before I know it they will be putting up sheet rock!  I promise to post pictures of all the progress tomorrow.  :)

Plumbing Finished and Shingles On - August 24

Plumbing was finished today and the shingles were put on! The septic tank and drain field were covered up and it is looking so awesome!

Lots of Work Getting Done - August 23

There has been a lot going on up at the house lately.  My bathtub arrived yesterday and everything is getting plumbed in.  The shingles arrived and the HVAC should be going in tomorrow.  Sierra was gone for about a week and a half so when she went up this evening to look at the progress I think she was pretty impressed.  The girls were already trying to decide what kind of furniture they were going to get and where they were going to put it.  I did get my plumbing estimate back and I wish all my estimates were that great!  Dwayne at Waterworks in Battleground did an awesome job!  I'm still finishing up the flooring - waiting for a new carpet estimate to come back.  I actually cried tonight backing out of the driveway while I was looking at the house.  I never dreamed in a million years that I would have such a beautiful house!  I am a very lucky girl!

Dog House Delivered - August 22

This morning the dog house got loaded up at Lowe's and was delivered to the house.  I have a little work to do to get it ready.  I plan on insulating the walls and putting some sheet rock up.  I will also be installing some ramps to a loft (for the cats).  I will also install two doggy doors, one down below for the dogs to use and one up higher with a ramp to get to it so the cats can go in and out without the dogs bothering them. The girls and I are also going to try to make some raised dog beds for the dogs.

Plumber Meeting - August 19

Had a meeting with the plumbers this morning in Battle Ground to pick out shower heads, sinks and faucets.  Oh my goodness, there are some beautiful fixtures out there.  I went with mostly the standard items, except for Kent's shower with a really nice shower head and four body jets, the girls got an upgraded shower head, my bathtub got an upgraded faucet, and I picked out two really nice granite sinks for the kitchen.  Depending on what my estimate turns out like I may add one of the instant hot water faucets in the kitchen.  I did get to see my jetted bathtub in the warehouse - I can not wait to get into that thing - it was huge!  Next week I get to meet the plumbers on Tuesday morning for a walk through and do an electrical walk through Wednesday morning.  It seems like everything is going sooooo fast.  Funny, I was really worried about the house being too small when the foundation was poured but now when I walk through it, it feels like a mansion!  :)

Roof On - August 18

Top Floor Done - August 17

Wow, it is amazing to be able to walk through the house and see where everything is going to be!  I can't believe that in just a couple of weeks we went from a blank piece of land to this!

Bottom Floor Done - August 12

There is a lot getting done! The bottom floor walls are up and interior walls are framed.  The trusses for starting the second story won't be ready until Tuesday but still hoping that it gets finished next Friday!  I can't wait to get upstairs to see if we might have a little peek-a-boo view of Mt. St. Helens.

A Ton of Work Getting Done - August 11

So there has been a lot going on up on the property the last week.  Septic is in, electricity in, port-o-potty delivered and framing started.  It was crazy today to drive up there and see the floor in and two walls up.  It's actually starting to look like a house.  We are hoping that by the end of next week the second floor will be on along with roof trusses.  It was so awesome to be able to go up tonight and look out our family room windows and get to see what our view will be.  I have a ton of pictures to post and tomorrow hopefully I will have pictures of all the bottom floor walls up!  :)

I'm meeting with Christine at Northwest Natural Stone tomorrow to finalize my granite and tile selection.  I'm so excited.  They have the most beautiful granite!

I have to give a huge shout out to Lars at Northwood Cabinets!  The cabinets look awesome and we reworked the girls bathroom and it is incredible!

Foundation Work - August 1

Well there has been some stuff going on up at the property.  It actually looks like they are building a house.  Kent is home on vacation and I think he hates that I have to drive up there twice a day to see what is going on!  :)
